Terms, Privacy & Refund Policy

Who you're buying from

EB is made and operated by EditBuddy (“we”, “us”). You can reach us any time at support@editbuddy.app.

Paddle.com Market Ltd (30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom) is our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle handles the checkout, payment processing, sales tax/VAT, invoicing, fraud prevention and payment-related support, and appears on your card statement and receipt. Paddle's Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy also apply to the transaction.

Terms of Service

What you're buying

A one-time purchase of a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to install and use the EB panel. EB is delivered as a digital download (a signed .zxp installer). Your licence key is emailed to you immediately after purchase and also shown on the confirmation page. There is no physical product and nothing is shipped.

How the licence works

• One purchase covers use on one computer at a time.
• You can move the licence between your own machines whenever you like, from Settings ▸ License ▸ “Deactivate this computer”, then activating on the other machine. There is no limit on how often, and you never need to contact us.
• The licence is for you or your company's internal use. Please don't share your key publicly, resell it, or sub-licence it.
• You may not decompile, reverse-engineer or attempt to defeat the licensing of EB, except where that right cannot be excluded by law.

Updates

All updates to EB are included for the lifetime of the product at no extra cost. EB is not a subscription and there is nothing to renew.

Activation & offline use

EB contacts our licence server once to activate, and briefly in the background afterwards to keep the activation current. It keeps working offline, with a grace window if the server can't be reached. A refunded, charged-back or revoked licence stops working at the next check. EB never modifies your After Effects project without an action you took that you can undo.

Warranty & liability

EB is provided “as is”. We work hard to make it safe and reliable, but to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for the product is limited to the amount you paid for it. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in. Anything relating to the payment itself (charges, refunds, chargebacks, invoicing) is handled by Paddle under Paddle's Buyer Terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.

Refund Policy

14-day, no-questions-asked refund. If EB isn't right for you, email support@editbuddy.app within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund it in full — you don't need to give a reason.

• Refunds are issued to your original payment method by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. You can also request a refund directly through the link on your Paddle receipt.
• A refund releases (deactivates) your licence, and EB stops working at its next licence check.
• We may decline a refund where there is clear evidence of licence abuse (for example a key shared publicly or used to obtain multiple refunds).

Privacy Policy

EB is a desktop tool that runs on your own machine. We collect as little as possible and we never sell your data, run advertising trackers, or build a profile of you.

What the EB panel sends

• On activation and licence checks: your licence ID, a one-way hash of your computer's machine ID (not the raw ID), a short device label (e.g. “STUDIO-PC · Windows”), and the app version. We store a hashed IP address and country for abuse prevention — never the raw address.
• Your projects, footage, audio and renders never leave your machine. Caption transcription runs locally. If you turn on caption translation, the panel sends the caption text only (never audio or video) to a third-party translation API — Google Translate or MyMemory — and shows a notice before it does. Leave translation off and nothing is sent.
• The Map feature fetches street data live from OpenStreetMap when you use it.
• The panel downloads open-source helper tools (ffmpeg, yt-dlp, model files) from their official sources the first time a feature needs them.

What we hold, and for how long

• Licence record: your email address, the licence key (hashed), plan, the devices it's active on, and a log of activations (with hashed IPs). Kept for as long as the licence exists so we can support it and enforce the seat limit.
• Payment details: handled entirely by Paddle. We never see or store your card number. Paddle shares your email and country with us so we can issue and support your licence — see Paddle's Privacy Policy.
• Support emails: kept while your licence is active plus up to 12 months, then deleted, so we have context for follow-up questions.

We are the data controller for the licence and support data above. Our processors (Supabase, Vercel, Resend) act only on our instructions under their standard data processing terms.

Where it's stored

Licence data is stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database and served through Vercel. Transactional email is sent via Resend. These processors act on our instructions only.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to stop processing it, by emailing support@editbuddy.app. We'll respond within 30 days. Deleting your licence data ends the licence. For anything relating to your payment, contact Paddle.
